On 5 May 2016 His Holiness Pope Francis appointed the Most Reverend Vincent Long Van Nguyen OFMConv DD, as the fourth Bishop of the Diocese of Parramatta.
The Executive Director of Schools Greg Whitby said the long wait for our Bishop was certainly worthwhile.
‘I join with our communities in welcoming Bishop Vincent Long to the Diocese of Parramatta,’ Greg said. ‘I know our schools have been long awaiting him and we are looking forward to working with the Bishop.’
Principal of the Catholic Learning Community at Stanhope Gardens Dr Peter Webster said he felt privileged to work alongside a renowned Catholic Leader who espouses the virtues of hope, justice and mercy.
‘Our community looks forward to supporting Bishop Vincent Long Van Nguyen’s social justice agenda that facilitates our students connection with the good news of the Gospels,’ Peter said.
Coordinator of Learning at St Joseph’s Primary, Schofields, Trevor Atkins said it was an exciting day for the Diocese as we welcomed Bishop Long.
‘I actually had the pleasure of knowing Bishop Long many years ago when he was the Parish Priest of Our Lady of the Rosary, Kellyville and I know what he offered to the Parish of Kellyville and I know what he will bring to our Diocese,’ Trevor said. ‘I know we at St Joseph’s look forward to growing together with the Bishop leading the way for us.’

✨ Today our Year 5 Faith in Action Team attended Lifted Jnr! ✨ Our students encountered Jesus through 🎶 live music, 🙏 prayer, 💬 discussion, and powerful 🙌 testimonies alongside students from other schools. They courageously shared their own experiences of faith with the wider group and listened deeply to others, growing in confidence and understanding. 💛 The theme of the day was Pentecost and our Purpose 🔥. A reminder that the Holy Spirit is a gift freely given, never forced. Our students have already begun to embrace this gift by saying “yes” to faith in action. They returned absolutely bursting with ideas 💡 on how to bring love into our school community, from encouraging donations to Vinnies, to caring for our environment by picking up rubbish 🌱, and helping create a more positive, safe playground through kindness and leadership. 🤝 It was a truly wonderful and inspiring day for all involved! 🌟 #faithinactionCSPD

Resurrection Liturgy Yesterday, Year 2 students led our school in remembering the Resurrection. It was a beautiful liturgy that reminded us of the hope and joy the resurrection brings. The liturgy concludes our commemoration of Holy Week and Easter for 2026. Thank you to all parents who engaged with our liturgies throughout the end of Term 1 and this liturgy.

Our STA students had a fantastic time participating in their 4 week after-school program with their AFL coaches. They developed new skills such as teamwork, ball handling, and game strategy, all while building confidence. They also loved receiving their AFL gift packs in the post too!
